Marvel's Avengers launched on consoles and computers last year, but there were some notable absences in this game about Earth's mightiest heroes.

One of the biggest omissions was Hawkeye, who did not feature in the game at launch, and had a bit of a rough start in the movies, but that is about to change as the archery-obsessed Avengers is on his way.

He'll take centre stage in a new DLC chapter, titled Operation Hawkeye: Future Imperfect, which will see the bow-wielding hero battling to save the present and the future from baddies aplenty.

But when can we play the new Avengers game DLC, and what evil forces will Hawkeye be trying to take down? Read on for all you need to know, True Believers.

Avengers game Hawkeye DLC release date: when is Future Imperfect released?

What time does the Hawkeye DLC go live?

When you boot up your console of choice with the Avengers game loaded onto it, you will, as of now, be prompted to install an update and, as expected, it is not a small one. The whopping 65.07GB update is the big enhancement upgrade we have all been waiting for which will see the game look and play better than ever on the Xbox Series X and the PS5.

As for Hawkeye, all indicators (including a Tweet from the game's community manager) suggest that his DLC will be arriving in a separate update later today and 16:00 UK time seems like the most likely time for it to drop. We'll be keeping our eye on the game throughout the day and we will let you know when it is ready to play!

Avengers game Hawkeye DLC price: Is it free?

Yes! For players that have already bought the main game, the Operation Hawkeye: Future Imperfect DLC will not cost you anything extra. The Hawkeye DLC is free, just like every other piece of post-launch story content that the publishers at Square Enix have promised. This should, in theory, keep players coming back to the game at regular intervals.

Who is the Avengers game's Clint Barton Hawkeye voice actor?

The Avengers game voice cast is totally different to the MCU movie cast, so the dulcet tones of Jeremy Renner will not be heard here. Voicing Hawkeye in the game is Giacomo Gianniotti. He has provided voice work for the Uncharted series previously and will be known to fans of the hospital drama Grey's Anatomy, where he plays Andrew DeLuca. He already popped up in the Kate Bishop DLC, but it'll be fun to see him take centre stage on March 18th. And here's a fun fact for you: Gianniotti originally turned down a larger role in the main game!

What is the Avengers game's Future Imperfect story?

Speaking to RadioTimes.com, Hawkeye actor Giacomo Gianniotti teased the story of the DLC. With Hawkeye journeying into a dystopian future, the arrow-loving Avenger winds up in a big confrontation with an older version of the Hulk.

Gianniotti teased: "In the past, Hulk is an ally. And so to meet your ally in the future, who's now your enemy, is very strange and very disheartening, and [it] turns your whole world upside down. So I think the combat and the fight is difficult because you're having to hurt someone you love, dearly, but only because they're trying to kill you."

"But it doesn't make it easy, because you're you're having to inflict damage on someone that you have a great deal of love for. But given the circumstances, you have to do what you have to do to survive. So it makes that challenge in that battle a little bit personal, and different from just sort of beating down the regular foe without a thought. Yeah, that's a challenge for all the characters involved in that one."

Future Imperfect marks the second chapter of DLC content for the game, so look for more announcements, and new characters, announced soon as the story continues. We already know that Spider-Man is coming to PlayStation copies of the game, and Black Panther has been strongly hinted too.
